As I contemplate the news … fires, war, the outbreak of Cholera, political discord, racial hatred, poverty, human trafficking, all kinds of abuse… I just want to fall on my knees! Last week I wrote in my journal, “You are my rock and my fortress! “… and proceeded to have this confirmed as I read randomly from Proverbs 22:19, “I have made these words known this day even to you” then immediately from 2nd Samuel 22:2, ” The Lord is my rock and my fortress, and my deliverer, even mine! “ Nothing random here!
I am reminded of another word to me years ago as I sat at my dining room table in Berlin, Germany and asked God what I should put on my little “bird on a wire” Christmas card design… going to press the next day! It was almost midnight and I was desperate and tired! The wall was still up and I wanted to send out hope! As I listened to “Oh Holy Night” through my earphones, … immediately, I heard, “In His name all oppression shall cease”! It was perfect for my card and a self fulfilling prophesy for the collapse of the wall! I went on to name my angel painting, “Fall on your Knees”… from “Oh Holy Night” of course…my new favorite Christmas carol!
As we contemplate the approach of Christmas and that holiest of nights when Christ was born, let us remember that when we fall on our knees, He meets us there! “The Lord is our rock and our fortress”! I am grateful!
In His name all oppression shall cease!
Fall on your Knees!
